Crazy protection for Crazy Adventurer and Extreme sporters
If you were looking at being protected financially for the more extreme situations, the following is a brief and loose comparison of some travel or Personal Accident insurances which have features covering the exceptionals, for example terrorism(including use of nuclear, chemical and biological substances!), skydiving, hang-gliding, non-scheduled flights, trekking below 7,000m etc. This is a summary. Please refer to actual policy wordings and statements from the companies for binding terms.
As a guide -
Common exclusions:
Engagement in a sport as an occupation and/or in a professional capacity and/or where the Insured Person would or could earn income or remuneration from engaging in such sport.
War (didn't find any insurance which covers this)
Involvement in illegal activities
Under influence of alcohol or drugs
Common conditions:
Proper equipment is used or worn e.g. Wearing a safety helmet, and not engaging in or practicing for any racing or hill climbing contests, reliability trials and speed or duration testing. (in the case of motorbiking)
Following pictures are an overview of interesting things covered, for the adventurer. Boxes in green and red are the most outstanding and least liked aspects of the insurance respectively, in my view.
X = Excluded
